The Project

Dear Visitor:

This website was created to mark the retirement of Dr. James Arieti, from Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, at the end of the Spring 2021 term.

​

To mark the occasion, Jim recorded ten dialogues with friends, colleagues, and former students. They were recorded from October 2020 to February 2021.

​

These casual conversations give testament not just to Jim's scholarship, humanity, and humor but also to the impact he has had on so many people during his long and literally legendary career.

​

Once the videos were finished, Jim provided additional materials to complete the project, including a series of dialogues he wrote and actors recorded during the 1990s.

​

Though brief, the site provides a glimpse into what it was like to study with and learn from Jim.

​

For all involved in this project, it was a pleasure and privilege to participate.
